Two more earthquakes were felt in that area that day. After that the intensity of the three earthquakes increased gradually. Later it was revised to 6 decimal 1.

Indonesia is a country prone to earthquakes due to its geography. Several distinct tectonic plates of the crust meet in the region. And so there are frequent occurrences like earthquakes and eruptions. In 2009, an earthquake of magnitude 7.6 in Padang killed more than 1,000 people. In addition, in 2004, more than 200,000 people died in the earthquake and tsunami caused by it.
